We have just passed the season of Galungan & Kuningan. This special period is celebrated  every 210 days and lasts 10 days. This time it started on 13th May with Galungan day. During these 10 days the ancestor are and the gods are visiting Bali, so the legend says, and therefore many ceremonies are held in house and village temples to welcome these special guests and make their stay as comfortable as possible for them.  This may sound odd, but once you attended such ceremony in the villages's main temple you can experience the detailed and careful way the flowers and offerings are prepared and presented, just as to welcome a long awaited guest.

On the 21st May, just one day before Kuningan, we have celebrated the Odalan ceremony in our family (Clan) temple. Odalan in simple words means "Birthday of the temple" and the whole community which belongs to this particular temple is doing the general cleaning and repair before such event,in order to honor this holy place in a special way.

The people dress up in their best and most expensive temple clothes. 

We had also the chance to enjoy temple dancers!
